What types of gates do you build?

Are your gates custom-built or pre-made?

Every Metals Farm gate is 100% custom-built to your exact measurements and requirements. We do not sell pre-made or off-the-shelf gates. This ensures a perfect fit for your specific driveway or property opening.

What areas do you serve?

We ship custom metal gates across all of Canada and the USA with free shipping. We serve all provinces and territories in Canada and all 50 US states.

Materials & Quality

What steel do you use?

Our standard gates are built from heavy-duty structural steel tube with a minimum 1/8" (3.2 mm) wall thickness — significantly stronger than most gates on the market. We use CSA certified steel that meets UL (Underwriters Laboratories) standards.

Is galvanizing available?

Yes! Hot dip galvanizing is available as a premium upgrade (extra charge). Galvanized gates are coated with zinc for maximum rust and corrosion protection, ideal for clients who want minimum maintenance and maximum longevity of 25+ years. Ask us about this option when requesting your quote.

Are your welders certified?

Yes. All our welders are CWB Certified (Canadian Welding Bureau) and Metals Farm is a CWB Licensed company. CWB certification is the gold standard for welding quality in Canada, ensuring every weld on every gate meets the highest professional standards.

How long will my gate last?

A standard Metals Farm steel gate with proper finish will last many years with minimal maintenance. With our optional hot dip galvanizing upgrade, you can expect 25+ years of reliable performance even in harsh climates.

Sizing & Ordering

How do I know what size gate I need?

Simply measure the full width of your driveway opening — from post to post or column to column (or the full open space if you don't have posts yet). Do you build gates for wide driveways?

Yes! We build gates for any width — from narrow pedestrian gates to wide commercial and ranch entrances. There is no standard size — every gate is built to your exact opening.

Can I get a double gate?

Yes. We build both single gates (one panel) and double gates (two panels opening from the centre). Our team will recommend the best option based on your opening width and preferences.

Automatic Gates

Are your gates compatible with automatic gate openers?

Yes. All Metals Farm gates are built to be fully compatible with all major automatic gate opener brands. Whether you want electric, solar, remote control, keypad, or intercom access — our gates are ready for automation.

Do you supply and install gate openers?

Yes — if you are located in Ontario, we can supply and install the gate opener for you as a complete turnkey solution. For clients outside Ontario, we recommend purchasing from a local automation supplier or installer who can handle the installation and programming.

How long does delivery take?

Installation

Do I need a professional to install the gate?

While our gates are designed to be straightforward to install, we strongly recommend using a professional installer. Proper installation ensures correct height from the ground, even spacing between gate panels, and perfect alignment — avoiding issues that are difficult to correct after the fact.

Do you offer installation services?

Yes — we offer professional installation services for clients in Ontario. If you are outside Ontario, we recommend hiring a local professional installer. Contact us to discuss installation options for your area.

Are hinges included with the gate?

Yes. Our gates come with heavy-duty hinges that are fully welded directly onto the gate frame and posts. This provides maximum strength and lasting alignment.
